Overview
CI4 Grade is a multigrade diesel engine oil based on mineral base oil, formulated with a high alkaline reserve (TBN) for corrosion control. Available grades: CI4 10W40, CI4 15W40. API introduced CI-4 in 2002 for high-speed four-stroke engines designed to meet 2004 emission standards, including engines fitted with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).
Each grade is listed separately in the specification table with its viscosity at 100 °C, viscosity index, flash point, pour point, density and base number, so grades can be compared directly before ordering.
Application
Modern diesel vehicles
On-road diesel vehicles whose manuals specify API CI-4 or an earlier diesel category.
Application
Road-construction machinery
Construction and road-building equipment with diesel engines, as named in the product's source documentation.
Feature
Published values by grade
CI4 10W40: KV100 14.9 cSt, VI 155, TBN 11, pour point -36 °C; CI4 15W40: KV100 15.5 cSt, VI 140, TBN 11, pour point -27 °C.
Feature
Alkaline reserve for corrosion control
The catalogue positions this oil around its alkalinity; each grade publishes a TBN of 11 mg KOH/g.
Feature
Choice of viscosity grades
2 grades in one product line, so a fleet can standardise on one API level across different climates or engine requirements.
