CJ4 Grade

CJ4 Grade is a multigrade diesel engine oil for heavy-duty diesel engines, blended from fully synthetic base oil and an advanced additive package. Available grades: CJ4 10W40, CJ4 15W40. API defines CJ-4 for high-speed four-stroke diesel engines designed to meet 2010 model-year on-highway and Tier 4 non-road emission standards, and for earlier diesel engines.

Overview

CJ4 Grade is a multigrade diesel engine oil for heavy-duty diesel engines, blended from fully synthetic base oil and an advanced additive package. Available grades: CJ4 10W40, CJ4 15W40. API defines CJ-4 for high-speed four-stroke diesel engines designed to meet 2010 model-year on-highway and Tier 4 non-road emission standards, and for earlier diesel engines.

Each grade is listed separately in the specification table with its viscosity at 100 °C, viscosity index, flash point, pour point, density and base number, so grades can be compared directly before ordering.

Application

Heavy-duty diesel engines

Trucks, buses and machinery whose engine manuals call for API CJ-4 or an earlier diesel category.

Feature

Published values by grade

CJ4 10W40: KV100 15 cSt, VI 155, TBN 11, pour point -36 °C; CJ4 15W40: KV100 15.5 cSt, VI 140, TBN 11, pour point -27 °C.

Feature

Choice of viscosity grades

2 grades in one product line, so a fleet can standardise on one API level across different climates or engine requirements.

Questions

Which grade should I choose?

Use the SAE grade in the engine manual for your ambient temperature range. Multigrade oils (such as 15W40) cover a wider temperature range than monograde oils (such as SAE 40 or 50).
